About Larkin Bulger

Larkin was a creative spirit with a deep love for craft, his community, and exploring Maine and around the world. Whether working with his hands, exploring new ideas, or spending time with friends & family, Larkin brought energy, generosity, and curiosity to everything he did.

The Larkin Bulger Fellowship at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts honors his legacy by giving a future Deer Isle student the opportunity to learn, experiment, and thrive—just as Larkin did.

The Larkin Bulger Fellowship will provide tuition, room, and board to support a Deer Isle resident, 18+, to participate in an Open Door workshop annually. Offered for more than forty years, Open Door is Haystack’s intensive three-day weekend workshop, designed for Maine residents, 18+, of all skill levels and backgrounds. Open Door offers a combination of uninterrupted time in the studio and the unique setting of the Haystack campus, supporting a unique experience for participants to explore new processes or deepen their practices.

Haystack Mountain School of Crafts will identify the fellowship recipient.
